Australia has been identified as a key tourist market for Vietnam, specifically for Ho Chi Minh City. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of Australian visitors to Vietnam had reached 383,511. Meanwhile, nearly 300,000 Australian tourists visited Ho Chi Minh City in 2019, which accounted for around 3.5% of the total number of international visitors to the city. Although the number of arrivals from Australia in 2022 was affected by the pandemic, the Australian tourist market remains in the top 10 international markets for both Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City. With the potential to increase the overall number of tourists to Vietnam and specifically to Ho Chi Minh City, the Australian market presents opportunities for further growth and development in the tourism sector.
